Kombat Taekwondo USA – Parent Led 8 Week Bully Defense Program (with Coaching Tips)
Week 1: Foundations & Confidence
Warm-Up: Movement drills (run, side steps, jumping jacks, ninja roll)
Technique Focus: Stances & balance (forward stance, side stance, diagonal stances, square base) Bully Drill: '3 Response Options' roleplay (Ignore, Walk Away, Take Control)
Review: Empowerment mantra → 'My power belongs to me.'
Parent Tip: Praise effort, not perfection. Say: 'I love how strong you look in your stance.'
Week 2: Distance & Evading
Warm-Up: Jump rope basics (forward spin, backward spin, figure 8 pattern)
Technique Focus: Step patterns for space control (forward, back, side angles, double-steps)
Bully Drill: Guard covers, hand deflections, head slips (using body shield for safety)
Review: Group talk on 4 forms of bullying (physical, verbal, social, online).
Parent Tip: Roleplay as the 'bully' gently—let your child practice moving back or sideways while staying calm.
Week 3: Striking Fundamentals
Warm-Up: Striking drills in motion (jab–cross advance, push-away, slide back) Technique Focus: Core strikes (jab–cross, hooks, uppercuts, elbows)
Bully Drill: Push defense → counter push kick / elbow follow-up
Review: Phrase practice → 'I choose to stand strong.'
Parent Tip: Use a pillow or pad to absorb strikes. Remind your child to keep hands up and eyes forward.
Week 4: Ground Defense Basics
Warm-Up: Partner challenges (light sprints, knee lifts, shuffle races, jumps)
Technique Focus: Falling safely, push kick from the ground, technical stand-up with kicks
Bully Drill: Turtle defense → control legs, push away, stand up
Review: Share awareness fact: '1 in 4 kids face bullying.'
Parent Tip: Keep ground drills playful. Let them 'knock you down' and celebrate when they get up with power.
Week 5: Kick & Push Defense
Warm-Up: Step–kick flow (chambers with slide steps)
Technique Focus: Power kicks (push, round, side, knees)
Bully Drill: Angle step + round kick / reinforced block with counter kick Review: Phrase practice → 'Stop, that’s not okay.'
Parent Tip: Focus on accuracy before power. Use a pad, and cheer when your child makes clean contact.
Week 6: Counter Striking & Mount Escape
Warm-Up: Partner mobility stretch & weaving drills
Technique Focus: Counters (block & strike, slip & hook, weave into counter)
Bully Drill: Mount escape (shield, hip thrust, arm trap & roll)
Review: Roleplay verbal bullying → practice confident answers.
Parent Tip: When roleplaying, never tease—be the 'actor' bully calmly. Afterward, remind your child: 'You handled that with courage.'
Week 7: Combination Skills
Warm-Up: Jump rope challenge set (cross-overs, doubles, one-leg hops)
Technique Focus: Full combo string (jab–cross–hooks–uppercuts–elbows, moving forward/back)
Bully Drill: Bully Defense Combos 1–3 (Swing block, Ground stand-up, Push release)
Review: Phrase practice → 'Are you trying to put me down?'
Parent Tip: Use short rounds (20–30 seconds). After each round, high-five and reset—kids learn best in bursts.
Week 8: Graduation & Empowerment
Warm-Up: Kick challenge circuit (high kicks, plyometric jumps, speed round)
Technique Focus: Final review of all strikes, kicks, escapes, counters
Bully Drill: Bully Defense Combos 4–6 (Ground shield, Mount escape, Leg drop counter)
Review & Certification: Bully Awareness Seminar recap, Belt promotion with bully defense skills, Celebration & confidence pledge
Parent Tip: End with a family ceremony. Present a certificate or wristband and let your child share their favorite drill of the program.
